Here Are Some Helpful Ideas If You Or Your Elderly Parents Are Moving From a Home to an Apartment

If you or your elderly parents have decided to downsize your living space to an apartment from a home you will usually find that you can't take everything with you. It all just won't fit in the smaller space.

You will have to spend some time deciding which items are the most precious to you and then decide what you are going to do with everything else.

Having moved to a smaller space myself I realize that there are just some things that I had, and moved, that have made my new space seem like I have always lived here.

But, then there was a ton of stuff that I either gave away to someone I knew, gave to a charitable organization or just put to the trash. I had lived there for over 40 years and had accumulated a bunch of stuff.

You might even consider making a little money by having a yard sale of some of the items you can't take with you.

When selecting your apartment you can try for one with a lot of space but you or your parents may not be able to maintain a larger space. Plus, if there are limited funds you may not be able to afford a larger space.

Something to look for in selecting your new apartment other than space is the bathroom. If you are choosing an apartment for your elderly parents then you might want to look to see if the bathroom is equipped with handicap bars by the commode and in the tub/shower area.

Another thing to check out is the closet space. Many older apartment building have very small closets. You will not only need closet space for clothes, but you still need a place to put the broom, mop, vacuum, etc.

Take measurements of the furniture items that you plan to keep with you when you go apartment hunting. That bedroom just might not accommodate that king sized bed that you plan to keep sleeping in. On all items in question measure the length, width and height. Some apartments have low ceilings and tall items may not fit either.

Plan to move some things around in your new space. Pictures, lamps and small tables may fit better in a different room. Remember that colors on the walls will be different and you may have to move something to a different room just because it matches better.

It can be kind of fun to look around and try to figure out where things fit best in the new space.

Give yourself plenty of time to move. It always takes longer than you think. Large items will need to be moved by movers. Go to the apartment and plan where these items will go so that the movers can place them for you while they are there.

You will probably move small breakable things yourself. Try to plan to place everything where it is going when you get it there. So plan time for this. It can become overwhelming to move in with a bunch of boxes still left to unpack. Often times they will sit in a corner for months before they get unpacked.

Don't try to move in one weekend. Once you find your new apartment, try to give yourself a complete month to move. Especially if you are moving your parents and they have lived in their current home for many years. It will take them longer to adjust to moving than you may think.

One more thing to look for while apartment shopping is what the washer and dryer arrangements are. Many apartments have a common laundry area on one of the lower floors that are shared by everyone in the complex.

If you find there are no traditional washer and dryer hookups in the apartment you choose then you may want to consider a portable laundry washer and dryer or one of the mini portable washers that you could use to reduce your trips to the Laundromat area. This can be really important for the elderly who have a hard time lifting heavy loads.

Overcoming Procrastination to Write an Ebook

If you've only written articles, writing an ebook may appear to be a daunting task. Writing the ebook may seem like an insurmountable task. Before starting to write you find all sorts of distractions instead of writing.

Research is a common way to procrastinate; you convince yourself that you are being productive with your work on the ebook. You tell yourself that you must be very knowledgeable before you can start writing. Despite all of this denial, you probably really do know that you are procrastinating.

Writing an ebook is no different from writing anything else.

The following is a process for writing an ebook:

- Come up with a theme or focus for your ebook. This topic is very significant because it's what you are teaching the reader.

- Write down ten working titles. A working title is a title that could possibly be used for your ebook. It has to capture the theme. It's important to come up with ten because the title you choose is the first step of your ebook.

- Write an outline, even if you despise doing so.

- Write one chapter every day the same way you would write an article every day.

- Revise your ebook.

- Make the revised ebook into a final draft.

- Format the ebook to make the appearance appealing and save to a PDF file.

- You are all finished!

Outlines are Very Helpful

Writers can be divided into two groups: people that outline before writing, and people who don't. If you're not someone who outlines now, it's important for you to start. Eventually you will realize that to work quickly to meet deadlines and outline is a necessity. Also, your writing will improve greatly when you start outlining.

All that and outline is, is a list. You should definitely outline your ebook so it doesn't change too much while you are writing it. It will be difficult to complete without an outline because the general focus will constantly change.

Start out with just a list of the chapter in your ebook. See each chapter as an individual article that revolves around a central idea. Even if you are pressed for time you can still get a chapter done each day.

Break Each Chapter into Parts

If your ebook still seems intimidating after making a list of chapters, try to write each chapter one paragraph a time. A method of doing this is to write fifty words as soon as you turn your computer on. This shouldn't be too challenging for anyone. After a while you will probably find this method slow and you will speed up. The words will come to you more easily and the ebook will be completed more quickly.

Now you can write an Ebook!

People can make a lot of money writing ebooks, whether it's for people, or as a source of income. The main obstacle when writing is getting overwhelmed and having trouble completing it. By now you should have a good idea on how to write an ebook.

How Do You Write Your Own E-Book? - A Simple Plan

So, how exactly do you write an e-book?

At the moment, we're going to assume that you are already well-versed in your topic, which will obviously make this entire process easier. Believe it or not, the process of creating an e-book is surprisingly simple, as long as you make a commitment to get the work done.

Creating an excellent book on your chosen topic is as simple as sitting down with a pen and paper and planning an outline for your topic. Whether your niche is weight loss, how to improve sales skills, or just about anything else you can think of, you should be able to sit down and list the most important topics that your potential customers would be interested in. You would then fill in the outline with a table of contents like you might find in a typical book at the bookstore.

That is, after you write down the 10 or 12 most important topics in your niche, you would then create several subtopics under each main heading. If you write roughly a page or so for each sub topic, you could easily have an e-book that runs anywhere from 50 to well over 100 pages long!

Obviously, the exact details are up to you. You don't have to write a whole page on each subtopic, but this is an excellent guideline to help you get started. You really shouldn't have any trouble accomplishing this if you're already proficient in your subject. You could spend a couple of weeks writing the e-book full time, or you could simply break it down to a couple of pages a day for a few months.

Depending on your topic and the length of your e-book, this freelance project could run you anywhere from a few hundred dollars to over a couple thousand dollars. It all depends on how long your e-book will be and the level of expertise and writing skill you demand from the freelance writer.

Of course, many beginners in Internet marketing don't have this kind of cash to spare, in which case your only option is to write the e-book yourself. If you're willing to put in the time and effort and have at least a decent writing ability (not necessarily college-educated), then you should be able to accomplish this. You just have to invest some time, like maybe a few weeks, getting really familiar with the topic in order to ensure that you create a high-quality product.

Have You Ever Heard of Soap Nuts?

When I got my copy of Knitting Green by Ann Budd, I fell in love with the pattern for a "soap nut vessel," a lace cotton pouch to use when adding soap nuts to your laundry. Soap nuts? I had never heard of them! I did a little investigation because I was so intrigued.

Soap nuts are actually dried fruit of the "Soapberry" tree (sapindus mukorrosi). They are dried berries and not nuts. Years and years ago, humans found that when the soap nuts get wet, they release saponin, a natural cleaner. They clean and soften your clothes with no chemicals.

The advantages to using soap nuts seem to be many:

Using them instead of commercial detergent cuts down on the dumping of toxic chemicals in our ecosystem.They are a natural product and can be used on those with sensitive skin or detergent allergies.Using them cuts down on your grocery bill by decreasing your use of fabric softener.They are biodegradable and reusable up to 5 times.They can be used as a stain remover and general household cleaner.The purchase of them supports fair trade workers in India and Indonesia where the trees grow.

I had to try them. I am always looking for "green" products, especially for special treatment of the dog clothing I knit! The ones I bought smell like vinegar. Apparently, that's the natural smell, but it did not transfer into my laundry. They came with their own little sack to use with the washing machine. I used them with white, dark and colored clothes. To my surprise, the clothes I washed with them came out very clean and soft. I must admit that I do add a clothes brightener to the whites, but that's probably not necessary. I hang most of my clothes on drying racks in the basement instead of using my clothes dryer, and I can't see any difference when I use them without adding liquid softener. I reused the same set of nuts 3 times and got excellent results.

Here are some other hints I found out about soap nuts:

To test if the nuts are still reusable, put them in a jar of water with a lid and shake them up. If they still suds, they are still good for another load. Add the water to the load.For household cleaning, add some to water in a spray bottle.You can simmer them on your stove with water to make "soap nut liquid." Use the liquid to clean windows, jewelry and even your pets!

Formatting Secrets for Kindle and Nook EBooks

Formatting an eBook for use on a web site or for sending by email using the PDF file format is relatively easy. Most popular word processors and page design programs can export to the PDF file format and those exports usually accurately render the PDF to match the original created in Word, InDesign, or whatever. Formatting for the Amazon Kindle or Barnes & Nook is a completely different proposition. Some programs like InDesign have plug-ins that supposedly save to the eBook format, but these are notoriously inaccurate. So exactly how do you properly, and easily, format a file for Kindle or Nook?

The Kindle format and also the Nook format are based on HTML, so the obvious answer to the previous question is to do your formatting in HTML. Most word processors and page layout programs can save to HTML, so that is the first step. Then open the file in your favorite HTML editor, I like using Dreamweaver but all of these techniques are done at the code view so any standard HTML editor will work. You can even use a plain text editor like Windows Notepad if you like. The Kindle Fire can take some HTML 5 coding with CSS3, but we will be sticking with more basic formatting in this discussion.

What we want is basic HTML, with all excessive formatting removed. If you are formatting for the Kindle and there is a cover image, remove it. Kindle works best if you upload the cover image separately from the eBook file. In the Nook you can leave it attached. For a professional look you want to start the actual eBook with a Title Page, followed by a Copyright Page. You only need basic information on the Title Page, first of course the title of the eBook as text, don't use a picture for the title, keep it text. You can follow this by a smaller picture similar to the cover of the book if you like, but don't put a small image of the cover here. That just looks unprofessional. What I frequently do is to use the same art as the cover if it is interesting enough but without the text.

The copyright page can contain a lot of information but the most important part is a properly formatted copyright. This is in the form of "copyright date name", here is an example: copyright 2012 George Peirson. You can replace copyright with the copyright symbol if you like. One more thing the copyright holder has to be either an individual or corporation (which are individuals as far as the US Government is concerned). Aside from corporations, companies cannot own copyrights. So either a person's name, or a corporation name, no business names, no doing business as, no partnerships, etc.

Next you will have your table of contents, followed by the rest of the book. We will now look at more specific HTML level formatting techniques.

Start by cleaning out all of the extraneous coding, span tags, any font tags or CSS styling, etc. Leave in paragraph tags or div tags as needed, but pretty much take everything else out. We basically want to start from scratch and keep the formatting to a minimum for the widest compatibility. If you use a program like Dreamweaver you can use the Find and Replace function to speed up this task. Lets say that you have paragraph tags with some formatting in them like this [p class="bodytext"], instead of looking through all of your code and removing each instance of [class="bodytext"], instead do a search for [p class="bodytext"] and replace with [p]. Also remove any span tags and don't forget to remove the closing tags as well, [/span]

We will next put in page breaks as needed, normally you would want each new chapter to start at the top of its own page, and of course the Title Page should be on one page and the Copyright Page should have its own page as well. To start a page at the top of the page on Kindle put in a page break in the code. Make sure you use a page break after the Title Page, after the Copyright page, after the Table of Contents, to give the eBook a professional look. The page break tag goes at the top of the new page in the code view, for instance at the beginning of each chapter before you start any text on that page. Here is the tag to use, this is a special tag that you will not find in normal HTML: [mbp:pagebreak /]. Just put it on its own line inside of tag symbols in the code at the beginning of each new chapter.

Now for some basic paragraph formatting. Of course you will be putting your paragraphs in paragraph tags, [p] paragraph text goes here [/p]. You can put in basic paragraph attributes into the opening paragraph tag, the most commonly used one is the align attribute. Simple to use, it goes like this:

[p align="left"] for left alignment,

[p align="center"] for center alignment

[p align="right"] for right alignment

Another attribute is align="justify" to force full justification, but eBooks fully justify by default so you can ignore this one.

The paragraph tag will leave a blank line between paragraphs, if you want your paragraphs to be continuous without blank lines then use a break tag instead, [br /]. Put one of these at the end of each paragraph break in your text and then begin the next line (no opening paragraph tag). To put a space between paragraphs use multiple break tags.

When you bump paragraphs together like this you will need a larger indent on the first line to easily spot the beginning of each paragraph, you can create the indent by using non-breaking spaces, here is the code "&" followed by "nbsp", you can put as many as you need, each one is a single space. I have found that 5-9 of these at the beginning of a paragraph gives a nice looking indent. You can use spacing attributes in the opening paragraph tag for indenting the first line, but it is not as reliable as the non-breaking space, so I stick with that in most cases.

You can indent the text on the left and right by using Block Quotes, basically adding margins to the page. Be aware though that on the earlier Black & White Kindles the right margin may be ignored.

You can put several paragraphs between one set of block quotes, and you can double up or triple up on the blockquotes to add larger margins, useful for poems and such.

Put in Bold and Italics as needed using standard tags, b for bold and i for italics

You can also use the different H tags for sizing your text, although I have found that only the larger H tag numbers work reliably. [h1] title text [/h1], [h2] not as large [/h2], etc. The H tags go from 1 to 6 but I have found that only h1 through h3 work reliably on all devices. So these are good for titles, page headings, and such.

Use H tags to size title and other large text like this:

[h1] title of eBook [/h1]

[h2] subtitle of eBook [/h2]

[h2] chapter titles [/h2]

You can put in alignment attributes into H tags, like this: [h1 align="center"].

Next position and format your images. I recommend sticking with left, right, or center alignment and keep your images on the smaller size. If the image is too large it will be resized by the eBook reader to fit the page and you will have one big image with no text. This is one spot where you may want to do some testing to get just the right size depending on your needs.

Once the basic formatting is in place you can set up the Table of Contents. Use anchor tags to create links for a Table of Contents. If you do this right after the title page and name it Table of Contents Kindle will know what it is and use this list for the Kindle TOC at the end of the book.

An Anchor tag looks like this: [a name="11" id="11"] (inside of tag symbols of course)

Place this at the top of each chapter, after the page break tag we included previously. You can name the anchor tags anything you want, but I find it easy to just number them. The example above is for chapter 11.

Now go up to your Table of Contents page and use standard links on that text to link back to your anchor tags. Here is how the link for chapter 11 looks in the TOC.

[a href="#11"] Chapter 11[/a] (again with the correct tag symbols surrounding the tag)

You can name your chapter anchor tags anything you like, maybe you have a collection of short stories and your Table of Contents lists the story titles instead of chapters, this is fine. But if you use the word Chapter in the Table of Contents Kindle will ignore any other links on that page when making the Kindle Table of Contents (in the Kindle controls and at the end of the eBook). So if you have this:

Forward

Chapter 1

Chapter 2

Epilogue

The Kindle will only use:

Chapter 1

Chapter 2

In your eBook's Table of Contents, of course your TOC with all of your anchor tags will work correctly, but if someone uses the TOC control in Kindle they will not see the Forward or Epilogue links in this example. This does not happen if you don't use the word Chapter. I am not sure why this is so and I discovered this by accident, but after a lot of testing it seems to be consistent. So either use all Chapters (chapter 1 - Forward, chapter 2, chapter 3, chapter 4 - Epilogue) or don't use the word Chapter in the TOC.

You can use standard links in the text and at the end of the book for links to web pages, etc. These will work fine, but to be safe keep any external links off of the Table of Contents page. If you want a list of links at the front of the book put them on their own page after the TOC.

One more tip on designing your book, make sure you have a good Forward or First Chapter. Amazon previews the first 10% of the book in their Look Inside tool in their Kindle Store, so you want the first 10% to grab the attention of the reader so that they will buy your book. Don't fill the front of the book with advertising, save that for the end, and don't put a bunch of pictures at the front of the book as well. Make sure you have some quality text in the first 10% to maximize your exposure and sales.

This will take care of almost all of your formatting needs and make your book easily convertible to both the Kindle and Nook platforms. You can get a lot fancier if you need to, but this really is most of the formatting that most books use.

You should do a lot of testing to make sure that your formatting works, I recommend using a program named Calibre to convert your HTML to the MOBI format for the Kindle and the ePUB format for use on the Nook. You should use either the computer version of the Kindle Reader and the Nook Reader to check the formatting after conversion, or better still use an actual Kindle or Nook. Don't rely on the Reader in Calibre as it is not accurate. One more tip, I have found that if I need to change or fix the formatting I need to remove the eBook from the Kindle Reader and also remove the eBook from Calibre, then re-import the fixed HTML back into Calibre, re-convert to MOBI or ePUB, and re-install in the Reader, otherwise I have found that the changes don't always take.

eBooks to Augmenting Your Online Marketing Campaign for Your Small Business

The other day, I was speaking to a young man who was building up his small online business, as he specializes in physical training, conditioning, and exercising endeavors. We had a dialogue about how to incorporate his writing, online articles, and knowledge into an eBook format to offer or give to his clientele as an incentive, also to promote his business and up his credibility and expert status. You see, he knows what he is good at, what he knows, and everything to do with the topic.

Now then, I do not believe it to be ethical to hype expertise - however, sometimes it makes sense to show what you know. My acquaintance indicated he did wish to put together eBooks but was sketchy on how to do that, or how to distribute them. He asks me two questions, perhaps they have been on your mind as well:

Do you have any tips on how to distribute eBooks?
How long do you think an eBook should generally be?

Okay so, my thinking on the eBook thing is two-fold, first, it seems that a simple 20-30 page book with some of his nutrition tips (articles) perhaps expanded, with some real-life stories makes sense. Then give it away for free if people sign up for your online newsletter.

Then a larger eBook 20,000 plus words for sale with the purchase of any services (free) or they can buy it stand alone for $29.95 and maybe you can allow others to sell it too, if they give you half the money or send someone to your secured server, then you give them half the money as a commission. Also list it on Amazon for $10 more, thus establishing a value, but if they buy it NOW it is less, or they get it free if they buy your other services.

Indeed, I would also write an eBook to help people start out, perhaps walking 2-3 miles per day, losing some weight, once they do move them up to a slow jog spurts within their walk, until they can run a mile, then two, then three, etc, and, as the weight comes off they will not screw up their knees etc. My acquaintance might use some other articles in his eBook if they make sense for him, by contacting the authors and promising to cite the source and get permission. In fact, it might help him get to the 20,000 words or assist in getting to 20-30 pages for the free-bee eBook.

Financial Support and Needs For Recovery During An Illness

People with serious health issues need support systems in place. Without a Financial, Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual Support Systems most people will fail to recover completely.

Here are the first of the Support Systems to Set up before you NEED THEM.

It is said by the age of 25 an average person knows or has met 2000 people. Your first support tool may sound extreme but it is a tool I have used in many areas of life.

Tool #1: Your Resource List: Your resource list is a written out list of 200 of friends, family members and acquaintances.

Be sure to get as many addresses phone numbers and emails as possible on your list. Having several copies will be important if something happens and you need help.

Tip #1: I encourage you to connect with your resources before you need them. See how they are doing, if they are in need or if there is anything you can do for them. As Guy Kawasaki says, "Help others before you need their help." Knowing who your resources are important to your entire Support System Set up.

A second Tool comes from the fact that without a plan way to many people run into hot water when they lose income, can not work, or an unforseen disaster comes their way. Maxing out credit cards or worse utilizing pay day loans can get people into hot water.

Tool # 2: Your Financial Support System

Tip #2: Start a Health Savings Plan. Talk with financial experts about a Health Savings fund that you could utilize for Specialty treatments. Most Natural Health Sessions and some Specialty Doctors are not covered under even the best insurances.

Tip #3: Utilize Tax Deductions for Medical Expenses, Supplementation, Foods, Conferences, Mileage and more. (talk to a Good Tax Professional ahead of time so you know what counts and what doesn't)

Tip #4: Invest in Wellness Care and Nutritional Supplementation. It has been proven over and over that regular Chiropractic Care, Massage Therapy and Exercise Classes not only can keep your body healthy and happy longer but also can save you lots of money on sick care. Insurance Companies are even offering discounts and kickbacks for those who participate in Wellness Care, Gym Memberships, and even take regular Supplementation.

Remember your HEALTH IS YOUR NUMBER ONE INVESTMENT!

Tip #5: Consider the Good Debt Bad Debt Principal. If you hurt your back and $350 of Chiropractic Care can get you back working in 3 weeks versus 3 months of being out of work wouldn't investing on a credit card the $350 be worth it so you could make back that money quicker vs continue to lose income.

Tip #6: Save some of your PTO (Paid Time off,Vacation or Sick Days) every year from work. Then if something happens it is a little less stressful on everyone and if you don't use them you get more time off in December.

Tip #7) Credit Cards versus Low Interest Person to Person Loan: If it comes to having to use Credit Card debt to pay expenses you would be surprised at how many people out there are willing to offer lower interest loans versus 24% high interest credit cards and even worse Pay Day Loans. Start asking people on your Resource list if before you take on a loan with 24% interest if they would be interested in a 10% loan agreement. I bet you can't get through the first 100 people without finding someone who is willing to do that.

Tip #8: Consider a Home Business Before or After: I always see this fund-raiser or that fund-raiser for individuals who have serious illness and are in financial need. Although I think these things are important for social and community support I don't believe they raise the income a home business could do passively in most cases. eBooks Future

It happened that I did a favor to my colleague, and brought back from the USA two eBook reader devices. One for my colleague's wife, and the second one for his daughter.

Specifically, it was Amazon's kindle best seller. This was not the first Kindle eBook reader he purchased. He already had one for himself, and another one for his dad. My colleague justified buying this large number of units by stating that since the day he bought the device, he started to read books again, and with great pleasure.

So, some people may relate to the eBook reader as another electronic gadget, to play with, while others really do enjoy it, and exploit the inventory of eBooks on the network.

eBooks and eBook reader devices do change the reading experience in many aspects. So it is not Amazon's Kindle itself, that made the change for my colleague, rather it is the existence of eBook's and reader devices. One may argue that other electronic readers, with larger screen, and with color image, are better than Kindle. Might be that some professionals reviews of such devices may try to compare between the various vendors? But, for me, the electronic readers represent a revolution, regardless the various differences between them.

Why is this revolution?

First, no need for large physical storage for all the books you buy. And if you do not use to buy paper books, rather you loan them for a short period of time from a public library, the eBook industry saves you the time of going to your local library and searching for your required book. Instead, by a click on the keyboard, you can search online for your book, and purchase it instantly.

Not only savings of shelves at your home, but also savings of large buildings will be achieved eventually, when the electronic readers and eBooks will prevail.

Now, think also about the saving of paper. The Green trend in the world should adopt the e-reader devices, as it presents a major aspect toward a greener world, with no need to cut all those trees in the Amazon. This goes along with the new notation used lately, the paperless society. This relates to trend of abandoning paper records of photos by using electronic albums, cloud storage services, and emails.

So, I would say that eBook industry will flourish in the future, and eventually this industry will cut a large share from the paper based books.

At Home Water Storage and Purification

If an earthquake, hurricane, winter storm or other disaster strikes your community, you might not have access to food, water and electricity for days or even weeks. By taking some time now to store emergency food and water supplies, you can provide for your family. This is no exaggeration FEMA & Red Cross, both will tell you this.

When Preparing for disaster survival remember the rule of 3.

* 3 minutes without air
* 3 days without water
* 3 weeks without food

This is typically how long you can survive with out those three. We will talk about the various ways to purify your water in any environment. Be it at your home or stranded in the wilderness.

Having an ample supply of clean water is a top priority in an emergency. A normally active person needs to drink at least two quarts of water each day. Hot environments can double that amount. Children, nursing mothers and ill people will need even more. You will also need water for food preparation and hygiene.

If supplies run low, never ration water. Drink the amount you need today and try to find more for tomorrow. You can minimize the amount of water your body needs by reducing activity and staying cool.

Storing Water Safely

* Store one gallon of water per person per day.
* Store at least a 2 week supply per person.
* Collect the water from a safe supply.
* Thoroughly washed plastic containers such as soft drink bottles are best. You can also purchase food-grade plastic buckets or drums.
* Seal containers tightly, label with date, and store in a cool, dark place.
* Replace water every six months.
* Never reuse a container that contained toxic materials such as pesticides, solvents, chemicals, oil or antifreeze.
* Water purification

There are two primary ways to treat water: boiling and adding bleach. If tap water is unsafe because of contamination (from floods, streams or lakes), boiling is the best method.

Cloudy water should be filtered before boiling or adding bleach.
Water filters can also be bought.
Though In a pinch you can filter water using coffee filters,
paper towels, cheese cloth or a cotton plug in a funnel.

Boiling is the safest method of purifying water. Bring water to a rolling boil for 3-5 minutes, keeping in mind that some water will evaporate. Let the water cool before drinking. Boiled water will taste better if you put oxygen back into it by pouring the water back and forth between two clean containers. This will also improve the taste of stored water.

Purifying by adding liquid chlorine bleach-
You can use household liquid bleach to kill microorganisms. Use only regular household liquid bleach that contains 5.25% sodium hypochlorite. Do not use scented bleaches, colorsafe bleaches or bleaches with added cleaners. Add 16 drops of bleach per gallon of water, stir and let stand for 30 minutes.

If the water does not have a slight bleach odor, repeat the dosage and let stand another 15 minutes. The only agent used to purify water should be household liquid bleach.

Other chemicals, such as iodine or water treatment products sold in camping or surplus stores that do not contain 5.25% sodium hypochlorite as the only active ingredient, are not recommended and should not be used.

While the two methods described above will kill most microbes in water, distillation will remove microbes that resist these methods, and heavy metals, salts and most other chemicals.

Distillation-
Distillation involves boiling water and then collecting the vapor that condenses back to water. The condensed vapor will not include salt and other impurities. To distill, fill a pot halfway with water. Tie a cup to the handle of the pot's lid so that the cup will hang right-side-up when the lid is upside-down (make sure the cup is not dangling into the water) and boil the water for 20 minutes. The water that drips from the lid into the cup is distilled.

How to Make $100 a Day With AdSense

Who else would love to make an easy $100 a day with AdSense, or contextual ads? Think that the days of earning big money on small advertisements are over? Think again! The truth is, you can earn a full income by turning your content into cash, and you don't even need to sell anything to really have success.

I'm going to describe a very simple process flow below, and it really does work wonderfully well for turning small blogs into significant profit centers, and I encourage you to try it for yourself if making money online has been a challenge.

Ready? Here are the steps, in sequential order:

Step 1: Pick a HIGH volume niche that has unusually high paying contextual ads (some of the best markets are finance, home loans, credit cards and credit repair, diet and weight loss, specialty dating, etc

Step 2: Create a community oriented Q and A blog that allows for rapid content creation. Content can literally be created on these style sites by simply asking questions, and providing answers that folks are searching for in your niche.

Step 3: Do a little bit of FREE keyword research. I recommend using the free keyword questions tool that is available online. It will literally tell you exactly what questions are being asked in any niche, or on any seed keyword, and allows you to quickly and easily take those very questions and use them as the titles on your new blog.

Step 4: Commit yourself to 90 minutes a day of on site content creation. I like to add 10 seed questions per day for about 10 days to jump-start the blog. This means simply asking questions as above, that are being asked in your niche, and as simple as this sounds, it really IS that easy!

Step 5: Write 2-5 traditional articles that you can syndicate to the article directories, who will publish them for you. This is a great way of getting an initial trickle of traffic, as well as having other authors and publishers in your niche pick up your content, and create natural links to your brand new blog. (and of course, this is a great way of announcing a new site to the search engines, and creating credibility in your community as well)

Step 6: Search for your high performing affiliate programs in your niche. I simply will do a search for the AdWords advertisers who are reviewing popular affiliate programs, or those who are using pay per click to buy traffic, and looking at the programs THEY are promoting. Why? Because if people are buying traffic and reviewing products on their landing pages that they "recommend" to their readers, you can bet that the affiliate programs are converting very well.
(and if they can afford to PAY for that traffic and make a profit, you can certainly make a profit with FREE visitors for sure!)

Step 7: Include questions and answers or reviews on the programs you picked to promote in step 6. While it's optimal to obviously be part of these affiliate programs, you don't even really need them to do well, as your AdSense or contextual ads will pay you handsomely on these pages as well.

Step 8? Rinse and repeat this process in as many niches as you want. I recently did a demonstration project where I created 100 new blog posts in 10 days using this system, and it literally took me less than 2 hours a day.

Remember - this is a strategy of SCALE. Don't do one of these and wait for a windfall of profits. Instead - do one at a time, use a system, have a structure and a sequence, and allow yourself the time required to succeed!

To get to the $100 a day mark?

The important thing is to pick high paying markets, keeping your content unique, and choosing a template for your Q and A community that converts well. If you set a goal of 50 clicks a day, with niches that pay 2 dollars per click and above (of which there are many) you can easily hit your goal within a few months, and totally part-time. But rather than trusting me that it works, I challenge you to try it, follow each step above, and prove it to yourself instead!
