Banned From AdSense?

Well if you are banned from AdSense then in theory there is very little you can do about it, and if you have been clicking your own ads deliberately or getting friends to do so then I have no sympathy, you deserve to be banned.

Getting rich with AdSense is possible but you need to look at it from a long term perspective, as you will not earn $1,000 per day overnight unless you are very, very lucky. Many people try and beat the system and fail.

If you have been banned for click fraud then tough cookie. However if you have banned and feel that the reason for the ban was correctable e.g. lack of privacy policy, or images too close to the ads - both of which can be corrected easily, yet both of which can result in a total ban, then you may find people have some sympathy.

Unfortunately despite you best protestations you may still find that Google chooses to keep the ban in place.

Now the only way forwards from here is if you have corrected everything that you can think of to ensure that your website now complies with AdSense policies and site quality issues, and they still will not re-instate your account, is to start again with a new website domain name (Note: you nor anyone else will be able to run AdSense on a banned site ever again) and a new person to apply for the account.

That is right, a new person, as you will not be able to apply for the AdSense program in your own name, address, email or bank account. If you do so then Google will spot that you are trying to apply for a new account, which is against the original Terms Of Service (TOS) that you signed up for when you first applied for an AdSense account, and turn down your new application.

So simply put the only way you can ever run AdSense again on a site you own is that if it is a) A totally new domain, and b) the AdSense account application cannot be by you or linked to you in terms of address or bank account in anyway what so ever. If it is the application will be turned down or you will be banned again in fairly short order.

So ideally you do not want to get banned from AdSense in the first place as you can see there is very little you can do if you are banned from the program.

Banned AdSense Account

If you are banned from the Google AdSense program then what can you do about it?
Well the first thing to do is find out what you have been banned for. If you have been clicking on your own ads or encouraging others to click on your ads, or even been so stupid as to join one of the forums promoting click fraud (Sadly they do exist), whereby you click on someone else's ads and they click on yours, then sorry but I have no sympathy and it is your own fault you got banned.
Google relies on its income from Google AdWords to make money, and this is what enables AdSense to exist, so Google is honour bound to protect its advertisers from fraud. In clicking on your own ads or getting others to do so then you are committing fraud, plain and simple, and if you were an advertiser that was being defrauded then trust me you would want Google to take action and ban the person committing this fraud, would you not?
However whilst this is the most common reason for getting a ban, it maybe that you have not been clicking on your own ads, nor encouraging others to do so, yet you still get banned. So what do you do?
Well the first thing is to write a polite letter to the AdSense team asking them for more detail as to why you have been banned. They are human and will write back to you even if it takes a while, but do be polite when you write to them even if you are angry, jumping up and down and shouting in an email will not help your cause!
If the ban is due to not meeting their website quality criteria, such as not having a privacy policy then take steps to look at your website and ensure it complies with their quality criteria, making changes such as adding a link to your privacy policy on every page as an example. Then and only then write back to them detailing the changes that you have made, and politely ask if they will consider lifting the ban.
Now you may get a response back, and in general you should expect to hear back within two weeks, but if it takes longer then do not get frustrated or angry and write a letter "Demanding" a response as this is likely to result in the ban not being lifted.

Banned From Google AdSense

As a website owner these are the words that you never want to hear or see in an email, as when Google bans you from AdSense then they tend to do it just the once e.g. it tends to be a permanent ban.

So the first thing you want to do is to do all you can to make sure that you are never banned. Commonly people are banned due to click fraud, whereby they are clicking on their own ads, or they are getting their relatives or friends to click on their ads daily. Google is wise to this and monitors clicks versus IP addresses, so too many clicks from one ip address and you may get banned.

If you think you can beat Google at click fraud then think again, as they have multiple systems in place to stop it and catch you out.

Or you may get banned whereby someone goes click happy (This is called click bombing) and clicks on lots of your AdSense ads in very short succession. Sometimes this is genuine and sometimes it is not, and thankfully the Google software seems pretty good at monitoring the difference between the two.

If as an example if one user clicks on two ads thirty or forty seconds apart then this is likely to be classed as genuine by Google. E.g. The user has been attracted by an AdSense ad, which opens in a new window, they visit the site and then come back to yours, they may then see another ad a short time later that also attracts them and click on it.

This worries some people, but it should not; I for one often find myself doing this when I visit other peoples sites, and so I would class it as normal user behaviour.

The bad part is when a user clicks on three or four AdSense ads within seconds of each other, in which case whilst you are unlikely to get banned for someone doing this, you are also unlikely to be credited with any money for the users clicks.

However you would be wise to run some form of statcounter on your site to monitor such activity, as it is a common problem that a rival website owner may come along everyday and click on your ads just to try and get you banned. By running a good statcounter you will not be able to stop them clicking, but you will be able to take a screenshot and send this to Google AdSense if it worries you.
