Recommended websites:

To make money online at home as an author, you need the following guidelines.

1. Writing an e-book should be determined by the benefits of the content. In other words, it must be able to meet specific needs of the targeted audience. Therefore, your e-book should be a solution to a pertinent problem. Your e-book should be an answer to a question.

2. If you want to make money at home online, the best way to get a hot topic for your e-book is to find out the top trends that are of great interest to forum users. Use forums for hot ideas. Then, begin to research it on Google or any other search engines.

3. If you don't want to bother yourself about finding ideas from forums, then write on Health and Fitness, Relationship or Online Opportunities. These niches are always best sellers.

4. Type your manuscript with a word processor and make sure that it is free of grammatical, spelling and mechanical errors. This is because your goal has an international outlook and it is very imperative that readers understand your thoughts in simple terms.

5. Work on the page layout in terms of the following.

· Page numbering

- Prefatory section should be in Roman numerals.

- The body of the book should be in Arabic numerals.

- The page number should be 'centre, bottom'.

· Header

6. Design the cover page using graphic design software. The cover page must make a good impression on prospective customers. Use ebookcovergenerator.com.

7. Use openoffice.org to convert the document into PDF. Copy and paste into "open office writer". Afterwards, click on "file" and from the drop-down list, select "Export as PDF". You will have the document in PDF ready to be sold. You may password it to prevent any unwanted distribution.

8. Create a website for your new e-book. Write a compelling ad copy for the e-book. Put popular payment processors on the sales page.

9. Publicize your e-book. Write and submit articles, press releases and reviews on the book in various directories.

10. Increase sales via joint ventures. Get it listed in affiliate program sites such Commission Junction and ClickBank. That is a better way to make money online from home from e-books.

Pros

Making money online with e-books is quite profitable since many internet users are information seekers, and it has been proved that millions of dollars are spent yearly on the purchase of digital products.

Cons

It may be difficult to sell your e-book since many e-books are just a form of written work copied from somewhere. So, you may have to convince potential buyers that your content is unique and this is not always easy.

Don't forget to spread the news to your friends in social sites and forums where threads are being posted on such issues. Put your site link in the signature. This is a well-targeted way to get more sales.

Writing eBooks To Make Money Online

There are plenty of ways to make money on the internet. Among them, one of the best ways to make money is through writing. You can do freelance writing or you can write for your own website or you can write articles for other's site or you can make an eBook and sell it on the web. The traditional of way writing a book and publishing it can consume a lot of time and also it will take quite some time for your book to reach out to wider audience.

As compared to traditional form of writing and publicizing, writing an eBook is a better proposition. eBooks are digital books (also known as electronic books) that can be written on your computer. You will have to publicize and advertise your eBook on your own or you can hire someone to do it for you. Since Internet is a global platform, it allows your eBooks to be seen and read by wider audience all over the world. Your chances of earning from an eBook are much higher as compared to writing and selling a traditional book. Here is how you can go making money by writing an eBook:

1. To write an eBook, you should start off by thinking of a subject of which you have good and sufficient knowledge. If you unsure about what to write, you can write an eBook after researching for topics by reading famous magazines and current happenings. The topic that you choose should be interesting and popular. You should only start writing on it after you have sufficient amount of information.

2. After you have enough information, you should start writing a draft version of your eBook. Check for errors or you can hire a professional to proofread your draft. You need to think whether you want to add more content to the draft or not. Once you are satisfied with the draft, you can create a final version of your eBook.

3. To make your eBook available on the internet, you need to upload by using any of the self-publishing services like Amazon or Lulu. You do not need to pay any money on these sites to publish your eBook. However, whenever there is a sale, a certain percentage will belong to the self-publishing service.

4. The next thing you need to do is publicize your eBook on the internet as well as offline. You can popular your eBook on social networking sites, forums, blogs, etc. The idea is to make your eBook reach out to wider audience on the internet.

5. Another way of making money through your eBook is to sell it through affiliates. There are many affiliate marketing programs like ClickBank that will promote on behalf of you and whenever your eBook is sold they will keep certain percentage of each purchase.

What Are PLR E-Books, and How Can You Make Money Online With Them?

PLR e-books are books that give you "Private Label Rights" to resell. So, for example, if you purchase an e-book - you can either buy for your own personal enjoyment or you can buy the "private label rights" to sell them to your customers.

Often you can change the book cover and title if you wish, to make it more appealing and relevant to your customer base.

PLR e-books are great because you can purchase them, make changes to them (to fit your needs) - thought this isn't necessary - and resell them at a profit. The great thing is that you can resell them over and over again.

The best and most effective way to sell e-books (or any other product online) is to have a website or and an email list. (I have written several articles on how to build, maintain, and effectively use your email list).

Once you have your PLR books you can sell them to compliment your blog's information. You can sell them using a number of different services including e-junkie.com, PayPal.com, and ClickBank.com. These online companies allow you to send your e-book to your paying customers right after they pay for them. Taking only a few minutes to set up, you can have a working "shopping cart" with "Buy" or "Add to Cart" buttons directly on your website.

Now to be fair, you do need a way to collect your money, which is why you should open up a PayPal account. If you haven't already done so, you should do this as soon as possible.

If you already have a website, PLR books offer a great "secondary" product (or products) to offer during their shopping cart exit. The great thing with e-books is that you can tailor them specifically to your clients or customers. How much would they be willing to pay? Could you sell an e-book and make an extra $19.95 or $37 per check out? If you make nearly $35 extra on nearly each order, how much extra income would this bring to you? I would imagine quite a lot.

So, whether you offer your PLR books as primary or secondary products, a quite a lot of money is to be made when the margins of your product are nearly 100%.

The fact is that many business owners struggle to maintain a line of credit while they sell their inventory and only reap at most 30% to 40% of the actual cost. The standard for many industries is marking the product up by 33% or one-third of its wholesale cost. If you are tripling the profit margins, then you will generate more profits much faster.

Why not choose a safer and much more valuable product offering like e-books? Selling information is the cheapest and best way to increase your profits.

By no means is this the only page you'll be visiting today. However you can still leave with a personal gift that'll make a direct impact on your income.

eBooks to Augmenting Your Online Marketing Campaign for Your Small Business

The other day, I was speaking to a young man who was building up his small online business, as he specializes in physical training, conditioning, and exercising endeavors. We had a dialogue about how to incorporate his writing, online articles, and knowledge into an eBook format to offer or give to his clientele as an incentive, also to promote his business and up his credibility and expert status. You see, he knows what he is good at, what he knows, and everything to do with the topic.

Now then, I do not believe it to be ethical to hype expertise - however, sometimes it makes sense to show what you know. My acquaintance indicated he did wish to put together eBooks but was sketchy on how to do that, or how to distribute them. He asks me two questions, perhaps they have been on your mind as well:

Do you have any tips on how to distribute eBooks?
How long do you think an eBook should generally be?

Okay so, my thinking on the eBook thing is two-fold, first, it seems that a simple 20-30 page book with some of his nutrition tips (articles) perhaps expanded, with some real-life stories makes sense. Then give it away for free if people sign up for your online newsletter.

Then a larger eBook 20,000 plus words for sale with the purchase of any services (free) or they can buy it stand alone for $29.95 and maybe you can allow others to sell it too, if they give you half the money or send someone to your secured server, then you give them half the money as a commission. Also list it on Amazon for $10 more, thus establishing a value, but if they buy it NOW it is less, or they get it free if they buy your other services.

Indeed, I would also write an eBook to help people start out, perhaps walking 2-3 miles per day, losing some weight, once they do move them up to a slow jog spurts within their walk, until they can run a mile, then two, then three, etc, and, as the weight comes off they will not screw up their knees etc. My acquaintance might use some other articles in his eBook if they make sense for him, by contacting the authors and promising to cite the source and get permission. In fact, it might help him get to the 20,000 words or assist in getting to 20-30 pages for the free-bee eBook.

Are you beginning to see the strategy here? All you probably need to get started are some eBook templates which you can get from Microsoft if you are using MS WORD at their online free-templates website, or email me and I will send you some that I have to assist. Indeed, I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

A Couple Thoughts and Suggestions for Personal Online Privacy

One of the things that people should keep in mind shopping online is that companies love to store data. Data about what a person purchases to what types of food they eat and where and how often. The other information that is stored is all of the customer's personal and financial information. Not only are databases collected about a client's clothing preferences and favorite cologne, what credit card they used and its number including security code, their bank account number, and certainly any online information such as e-mail addresses and social networking accounts. Keep in mind that regardless of a company's privacy policies this information is stored and available to retrieve at any time, for any reason, whether disclosed to the client or not.

Another interesting practice of companies is what I like to refer to as Personal Information Entrapment. Where this type of data hoarding appears to be most prolific is with companies that provide employment placement services or large companies that have their own internal recruiting services. In many cases an online profile or account is created. When a job seeker goes to an online placement firm to seek employment they are required to fill out very specific and private data and submit a resume. This in itself does not seem unreasonable. The concern comes when the job seeker decides they wish to have their account closed and information removed from the site. In many cases there is no provision for the job seeker to remove their own personal information. Why does a company need to retain detailed personal information on an individual who is not employed by them or using their services?

When performing any type of online information sharing, whether it is for purchasing goods or services, or seeking employment, consider what the information is that will be shared and to whom it is being shared carefully. Instead of simply clicking the box that indicates one has read and agrees to the privacy terms, actually take the time and read it. Yet, even if the privacy terms seem reasonable and straight forward, they often say nothing regarding the retaining of a person's personal data. This information might not be posted.

Finally if all else fails and a person finds themselves with personal information sitting out on some company server or a service company website that want removed, a friendly phone call to the company usually will result in any of the private or personal information being deleted. In some cases it might be retained for a certain time period and then automatically deleted. The best way to avoid Personal Information entrapment is to make inquiries before supplying the data and making informed decisions.

To Build A Successful Online Business

With the advancement of technology, online marketing has become a trend that is evolving around the world. In every business venture, before becoming successful, one needs to take a risk in overcoming all the odds such as selling their products online despite risking a loss.

Here, we will talk about how managing the right elements in your business while starting out can mean overnight success or a certain failure.

Starting Out

Before starting out on your own, you would need to have sufficient knowledge and understanding of the product you're selling and the targeted audience that you are producing for. Without time and effort, you won't be able to get the results you would want for your business.

However, you would be surprised that successful people make money overnight while we are asleep; so what is their secret of success?

In comparison with real life and internet business, what you see on the internet might be different from what you get in real life. For real life business, you are able to see the product in front of your eyes to see if it's appealing and profitable. But the most vital factor is quality.

Quality plays a larger part than quantity. It's no use having a product when the standard is not up to expectations of the targeted audience. To be successful, sell quality products rather than products in huge quantities.

It's no point selling a branded product at a shop which is run-down and filthy as the place needs to be as appealing as the brand to draw in customers. People tend to expect the same way as what they want in real life. However environment is another factor that would keep the audience coming back to purchase. Customer service plays a role in promoting the product.

Elements to Look Out For

To amplify to a successful online business, there are certain elements that one needs to be wary of. Let's take a look at how the elements are being broken down:

Real-life Business Elements

1) Marketability: Demand for the product, long term or short term

2) Competition: How much supply is there in the market already

3) Brick & Mortar Shop: A brand and a theme that relates to the product

4) Traffic: Visitors that are exposed to the product

5) System: A sound plan that brings in income/customers, recurring or new

Internet Business Elements

1) Marketability: Demand for the product and Internet exchange friendly

2) Competition: How much supply is there in the market already

3) Quality: Giving quality to customers or users

4) Website: A brand and a theme online, in a 'virtual shop'

5) Traffic: Visitors that are exposed to the product

6) System: A sound plan that brings in income/customers, recurring or new

As you can see, both are quite similar.

You have to choose wisely what kind of product you want to market to people; there are different ways in finding the right product to market.

Google has been an innovative search engine for people like you and me to search for the popular products online. Without Google, it will not be easy to begin your online business.

For example, if you have a certain interest in an area of specialization such as cooking and you would want to search for a recipe such as Italian cuisine, you would have to see what the keywords people are using to search and see if there is a market in selling Italian recipes.

Once you have decided on a good product that you think is suitable to use you would have to evaluate on the quality on the product to see if it is up to date and the advantages and disadvantages of it to ensure that you have made the right decision before marketing it out.

The next step you would have to think about is how you are going to execute your idea in marketing your product in the virtual world. Therefore, the main foundation is your website itself.

Your website needs to provide information about the product, its selling point and the benefits it could offer to your customers. Most importantly, it should reflect the theme and brand of your product, so as to create awareness and recognition. Among these, your website must also be user-friendly.

Remember this; if your website is a pain to navigate through, the easiest thing for potential customers to do is to click the bright red X in the corner of their browser.

These are the key elements that every website should have.

Lastly, traffic plays a very important role in your business. You need to know who your target audience is as not every product would please everyone. Therefore, targeting the right audience and the right product would greatly boost your traffic of interested customers.

Conclusion

In summary, the 5 key elements to becoming successful in the online business are marketability, quality, website, traffic and system.

Marketability: Is your product in demand? Is it a short term or an evergreen demand?

Competition: Is that demand already met by supply? How big is that supply?

Quality: Giving quality in turns builds brand reputation and trust.

Website: A 'virtual shop' online for visual or audio branding. User-friendly.

Traffic: Potential customers that get exposed to your product and sales pitch.

System: Implemented to turn new customers into returning customers.

Using Ecommerce Design to Enhance Online Businesses

Given today's trend of doing just about everything online, the field of competition makes ecommerce design extremely important. Success primarily depends on a strong web presence that is easy to find and access. Another important feature is to establish a good business reputation with clientele. Finally, stay on top of what is on the site so it is not outdated or incorrect. Many tools and rules of thumb discuss online business site methods. Some of the most common ones steer you in the right direction. Others are mistakes that can drive a business right into the ground, whether it is a brick-and-mortar or online company.

Few things are lonelier than a website with no visitors. The most important thing to do is make sure that people know it exists. Never denounce or doubt the honor of word of mouth advertising, but do accept that there are billions of people around the world. Internet businesses require something more to catch a hit from someone searching the web. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a remarkable tool for promoting websites. Google, Bing, and Yahoo are among the top search engines available, with more trying to beat at least one of them to the top. The more engines the business is associated with, the more likely it is to receive hits.

Give viewers a reason to come back once they find your business. Whether they arrived through SEO or a direct URL target, it is necessary to keep page content fresh. Ecommerce web design should bolster business rather than stagnate through lack of follow through. When people go to a website, they want to see new items and information. Mix up the display and provide the options that the public wants. Rather than specializing in a few items, have a wider variety to increase interest.

Keep your web page user-friendly because negotiating difficult to impossible sites causes customers to leave and shop elsewhere. Make the site easy to navigate so customers will return often. Have several people test the site before it goes live. Check to be sure it is presentable and that all the features are operational. Above all, make sure that hyperlinks work and take the person to the right area. Find the balance between clutter and boring, as either situation will discourage customers from shopping and send them somewhere else.

Make the font large and clear enough so directions are easy to find and follow. It is vital that visitors know which buttons to click and what it takes to order something from your site. Make payment options visible so they have the right information handy when placing their order. Various online services offer linked payment sites and make ordering convenient. Graphics and pictures, including logos that show which cards are accepted, should relate to your site and be relevant to clientele.

One of the most important steps is confirming that your ecommerce design makes it easy for site visitors to know how to contact your company. Phone numbers, addresses, or an online help support tool is a great way to do this. Make your presence known and keep customer satisfaction a top priority.

Why Planning The Market You Want To Sell To Is So Important When Starting A Business Online

In our experience in the online or e-commerce business sector, we have spoken to many people who want to begin to trade online. One of the biggest failings of people wanting to succeed in this area is their failure to work out a detailed plan of how to go about it. Any planning must start with a clear understanding of the market to target.

The first thing to do must always be to start with the market that you wish to target and then "work back" in terms of what needs to be done to put in place the necessary machine to make it work. By machine we mean the means of bringing whatever it is you eventually decide t sell to the means of putting it in front of your potential customers.

What market should you decide to prospect in?

The best advice here is to remember the credo of many big companies in the marketplace. That is to "follow the money" Look for the areas where people are spending money especially in difficult economic times. This does not mean looking only in those areas where people are shopping only for bargains. In reality this can be very counterproductive as these areas are populated by customers who are very price sensitive.

Instead look for areas where people spend their money to make themselves better in recessionary times. Look for areas where people follow a passion or very strong interest. When times are hard, people want to be relieved from the day to day gloom. People will still spend money on their pets. In fact there is a growing trend to own pets in both the U.S. And the U.K. Recent statistics show that people still want to get married. Many people who are unemployed will still pursue their hobbies. A useful exercise is to actually walk down any high street on a Saturday and see what types of shop are busy.

Whilst there, take a look at any shop selling magazines or periodicals. As many people will initially buy a magazine on a topic that interests them or a new hobby they are thinking of taking up. What types of magazine are these shops devoting expensive shelf space to. Ask your local newsagent what types of magazine are popular at the moment. Talk to friends and neighbours and ask them how they have changed their shopping habits. This and other types of research is worth its weight in gold - quite literally.

Using Google AdSense for Your Online Business

As you probably know, Google makes a hefty percentage of its revenue by selling advertising space keyed to particular search terms. Advertisers can target their ads to show up to internet surfers searching on particular key words. So, Toys R Us might want their ads to show up for searches on "toys" or "cartoon giraffes", Levi's would like people interested in "jeans" or "denim" to be presented with their ads. What you might not know is that there is a program that will let you (as long as you've got a web site) get a piece of the action.
Here's how it works. You sign up with Google, in a very simple process, and include code they generate in your website. Once that happens, Google will direct targeted ads to the spots you set aside on your website that match the content of your site. There is an approval process, but as long as your site is of reasonable quality and not objectionable, you will almost certainly be approved - everyone wants to get a piece of the revenue stream. When your visitors click on the ads, Google will send you a percentage (probably about 60%) of what they make on the PPC (pay per click) responses. That is pretty much it. You do not have to do anything else, there is no negotiations, no paperwork, and no further need to change your site. Some percentage of your visitors will see the ads and click on them, and every time that happens, a little bit of money goes in your AdSense account and you will start receiving monthly checks from Google Corporate.
Here is some of the story behind this very simple concept. Obviously, you were getting paid for something that visitors to your site are doing, namely, clicking on an ad. So, the most important variable in how much you can earn from this program is how many visitors are attracted to your site. I am sure you would not be surprised to learn that you are not the first person to contemplate this question: "How can I create a website that gets a lot of traffic so I can generate a lot of advertising revenue?" There is two ways to answer this question: one is, make something that people think is valuable, interesting, fun or in some other way compelling, and then find ways to promote the site so your monthly visitor numbers start to climb. If you can find something that is actually important to people, then you can make an appeal like "If you believe in what we are doing, please click on a few of these ads. It would not cost you anything, and Google will send us money we will use to support our work."
The second way to answer the question has to do with the whole art and science of SEO, Search Engine Optimization, (some might say dark arts) which basically means, how can you increase the chances that when someone is searching for something related to your website, your website is one of the top results. Almost all traffic any website gets, especially in the beginning, comes through the results presented by search engines, Google being by far the strongest example. Design your site with SEO in mind and your monthly AdSense check will be bigger, quite possibly in amounts that will be significant.
There are people who earn hundreds, even thousands of dollars a month from this Google program. It is not free money -- you will still have to do the work of creating your site and promoting it, and answering for yourself the question, "what can I put up on the web that will resonate with people so I will get lots of visitors?" If you are not sure how to answer that question just yet, you can at least start thinking about the AdSense program. One place to start is with Google itself, at www.google.com/AdSense.

What Is Google AdSense - It's The Easiest Way To Make Money Online

For a beginner, and by beginner I mean someone who has just started to try to earn money online, Google AdSense may well be the easiest way to monetize a website. You don't need a fancy list, copywriting skills or HTML coding ability, in fact you don't need many technical skills at all.

So, what is Google AdSense? It's a system of contextual advertising that in order to use effectively you'll need to be able to create, maintain and update websites. But, they're not the only skills you'll need to be successful.

The other necessities are:

Being able to write compelling and useful content. Creating thin, poorly written sites merely for the purpose of making money from AdSense isn't enough to really succeed. You must have a great site.
Promoting your website. A site that nobody visits will be useless at making any kind of money. SEO is the most common form of site promotion for this.
Enough commitment to rinse and repeat numerous times. You could say this about anything I suppose, but it's especially true that sometimes you may exhaust the reasonable amount of information you can publish about a subject and need to impetus and get-up-and-go to be able to create more sites.

Many people overlook AdSense as the individual clicks aren't necessarily worth a lot of money. And that's not even correct. Depending on what the advertisement is selling you can get $2, $5 or even more per click. You can see that just a few clicks can start building up.

A few of the benefits of using this system of monetization...

No selling. By placing the adverts on your site you're merely giving the reader additional avenues to solve their problem. You won't have to convince them to click, in fact doing so is against the rules.
Your reader doesn't have to buy anything so is more likely to click than someone is to spend money. A warning though, too many non people clicking and then not taking any action on the other end is not a good thing for anyone. This may cause advertisers to stop using Google or 'smart price' your site so that the clicks pay out less.
The confidence of working with Google, who virtually own the internet.
Easy to implement, copy and paste a few lines of code into your site and bang! Instant contextual advertising.
Regular payouts. As long as you earn over the lower limit you'll get paid monthly, and the limit is tiny, $100 or £60 in the UK.
Simple to track. Real time results via the AdSense website.

What AdSense is all about and how it works is simple. People pay Google, through their AdWords program to advertise on search results and content through publishers like you. The advertisers pay per click hoping to get visitors to their sites to
Purchase their productSign up to their service and sometimesOpt in to a mailing list for some or other incentive (something which many internet marketers do to build lists for email marketing)

You then apply to Google to become a publisher and they supply you with a code to place on your site which will display the ads. You can change the way the ads look to a certain degree, such as text color, ad size etc. For every click on your site you are paid an amount dependant on how much the advertiser has paid Google for the ad. Things like mortgages and lawyers pay higher than cuddly toys and dog food. Google takes 32% of the revenue for themselves for the arbitrage and you get the remaining 68%.

Simple eh?

So you might think that it's easy to make loads of money. Well, get a system in place and it is. It is also a lot of work.

First of all, Google won't give AdSense accounts to just anyone. You'll have to prove that you've got a website on which they are prepared to place their adverts.

Secondly they are very, and justifiably, strict with their terms of service. People frequently report that they have their accounts banned for some infraction, or for nothing at all (which I don't personally believe). For example, clicking on your own ads is not only a waste of time, but will cause Google to close your account. Not only that, but it's a bad thing to do as you are costing those advertisers money.

Thirdly, and this is one of the big things in internet marketing, you need plenty of traffic and from that traffic, clicks. Successful sites can report anything from 2% to 15% and higher as a CTR (click through rate) which is the percentage of people visiting a site who click on your ads. You can see from that figure that having 15 people clicking is far preferable to 2 people for every 100 who visit your site. This figure depends a lot on niche, ad placement, ad relevance and many other factors and will plainly be one of the things that you work on to produce high AdSense earnings.

Once you've got the trick of building sites that have a purpose, great information and have been promoted well enough to receive lots of traffic, you'll be able to earn a great deal on AdSense. Google themselves want you to be successful as it makes them more money and frequently feature websites on their AdSense blog that make hundreds of dollars a day.

For sheer simplicity of execution, making money from AdSense really is the easiest way I've found that's sustainable, stable and repeatable.

As long as you know how to build a website, you're all set.

Barry’s Asian Salmon

Introduction:
Written by Barry Gourmet & Raw © Copyright Sept.24 2011

Wild red Salmon from the pacific is delicious , heart healthy , and provides essential omega 3 fatty acids. Of course tropical Phuket Thailand does not have Salmon so I buy it frozen. The way I usually prepare my fish is to Thaw it out clean it with a good rinse then lay the fillet in my steamer . The herbs that I later add in will flavor the fish and in the end you have a wonderful herbal broth to go with the meal.
I consume seafood once or 2 times per week but the raw dressings and salads are always the predominate size in proportion to balance out my Plant Based Diet.
Days on either side of my fish meal is Raw Vegan,Macrobiotics, Mediterranean, and Thai.
What I look for in a meal is it easy to make , in a short time, with high nutritional whole foods
good taste and fun to make? The food must have color and I use low heat methods so that the vegetables are crispy in the center ,but softer on the out side . To achieve this the vegetables must be cut in the same size to give uniformity in taste and texture.

Normally when I make a raw dressing it usually is enough to last me for 3 or more meals over 2 or 3 days. Some times I may have 2 going at the same time for more versatility .Dressings can be used for dips, salads, toppings, adding it to soups, and you can even thicken it with milled seed to make chutneys .Often the dressing is neutral in taste and I can alter it as I please with additional herbal ingredients using things like , Thai Chili pepper and ground onion or garlic to make it hotter. Or I can add raw honey ,stevia, or tamarind juice to make a sweeter taste. Or I can add lime or lemon juice to make sour. Also I can add Pink Himalayan Sea Salt Crystals dissolved in water called (Sole) to give some salty taste. For Bitterness its easy , as most all leafy greens will create this effect for taste like bitter melon greens. And for that tart taste I have many choices like green apple, ground cinnamon, raw apple cider vinegar, and ginger root powder or the raw root for more pungency.

So you can see that it is totally not necessary to use processed flavorings and additives from the store, when Nature provides all that you need when you have the information to work with.

Hot,Sour,Bitter,Sweet,Salty, and Tart can all come from natures herbal pantry shelf.

A good tip for extending the keep of your dressing is to just add some ground cinnamon to taste, as this herb is one of natures highest antioxidants and natural preservative.
If you think that your dressing needs help to finish by the third day, then you can do as I do and share your dressing with your dog. Just make sure that there is no Dark Chocolate or Onions as this is harmful to your pet. Chocolate can give a dog a hear attack , and onions can cause serious anemia toxicity to your furry friend ,so keep this in mind.
Garlic is much less toxic to dogs and some Vets use them and others do not. Other wise sharing smoothies and dressings together with your dog adds good nutrition for your pet dog as well.
Our dog is so dependent on us for their good health, nutritional needs and happiness ,so it is our responsibility to research for them, and to educate our selves to be good care givers of our best friend.

What not to feed your dog with more comprehensive information?

Dogs enjoy soft moist foods ,with crunchiness for cleaning their teeth with, so a shared green smoothie or dressing is well received and appreciated ,and my dog has no complaints what so ever. I felt that the following list of No NO Foods to feed your dogs where important enough to cover hear because I think nutrition for our pets is very profit driven, with controversy
and complacency in the pet food industry in general.
Did you know that a dog will some times eat grass when it is feeling ill to induce vomiting?
Animals seem to know what to do for them selves at times.
I have included some of my own comments to the list only to bring more awareness to the topic and that said ,I wish to conclude that the list is very complete and informative with solid information given ,that every Dog care giver needs to know. I learned a few things from this list and some of the information may surprise you. What not to feed is just as important as what to feed to your dog.

Do not feed the following foods to your Dog:

Any foods containing caffeine like coffee, chocolate, tea,or anything stimulating to the nervous system.
Grapes, raisons, and currants are toxic to the kidneys, but grape seed extract has no known toxic effect or side effect.
Hops can cause a dogs temperature to rise, increase heart rate, and result in death.
Human supplements containing Iron can damage the lining of the dogs stomach, and be toxic to the liver and kidneys.
Alcoholic beverages can cause intoxication ,coma, and death.( I will never understand why a human would do this to a dog)
Avocado has an ingredient through out the plant called persin, that can cause vomiting and
diarrhea. I will not name the well know brand name company ,but Avocado is used through out and its part of their marketing in a big way.
The following is obviously toxic to your dog such as ,salt in large quantity, tobacco, marijuana, and high simple carbohydrates of refined sugar.
Refined sugar causes dental tooth decay, and possibly diabetes melitus. Both dogs and humans are subject to this problem when commercially processed foods are part of their diet.
Yeast dough can cause pain in the stomach when it expands possibly rupturing the intestines.
Soya Bean is not digestible in dogs ,and in fact this applies to humans as well.Soya Beans that are sprouted and fermented have lost their enzyme inhibitory and are readily digested by the body for humans but I don’t even give this to my own dog.
Soya and corn are the 2 biggest cash crops of the biotech industry that produces GMO,genetically modified organisms for the livestock, human processed food, and pet food industry. I personally do not feed processed commercial dry dog kibble to my dog.
Mushrooms can contain toxins that affect multiple areas of the body that can possibly shock the dog leading to death.
Pits from fruits like persimmons, peaches, and plums can obstruct a dogs intestinal tract.
Dairy causes diarrhea in some older dogs. I always thought that the only dairy a human or animal would ever need is its own mothers milk.
Bones on the do not feed list has been kicked around for a long time between the two camps .
One camp that advocates the barf raw diet, and the other camp that advocates the cooked diet.
Bones that are overly cooked are reputed to possibly cause , obstruction or laceration of the digestive system.
Raw meat is on the list for containing bacteria, such as Salmonella, and E.coli ,which can cause vomiting and diarrhea. Un like a human a dogs internal digestive juices are extremely acid in nature and yes if the dogs immune system was compromised in any way yes the raw meat can adversely affect the animal. The problem with raw meat is it is an incubation medium for parasites that can be transmittable to humans and to dogs.
Raw eggs contain an enzyme called , avidin which decreases the absorption of theB Vitamin called Biotin leading to skin and hair coat problems.
All fish that is raw canned or cooked served in high amounts or exclusively can cause a B vitamin named thiamine to be deficient in the dogs body. This could lead to loss of appetite ,seizures and in severe cases possible death.
Fish contains the Omega 3 Fatty Acids that are seldom found in todays land meats as grass fed open range live stock practices are now intensive feed lots where the animals are living in tight quarters.I feed my dog fish in moderation with days off.

Macadamia nuts contains an unknown toxin that can affect the dogs digestive ,nervous system and muscle.
Rhubarb leaves contain oxalates, which is also present in many plants such as the weed lambs
quarters, Buckwheat,Black pepper, parsley, poppy, amaranth, spinach, chard, beets, cocoa, chocolate, most nuts, most berries, beans and leaves of tea in that order. Oxalates are plant acids that are synthesized via the incomplete oxidation of carbohydrates.
Fat trimmings can cause a dog to have pancreatitis. Pancreatitis is a condition of inflammation of the pancreas from eating a fatty diet. This condition can be reversed by putting your dog on a lean meat diet. Is there a correlation between dogs and humans here I wonder?
Xylitol is an artificial sweetener, that cause very low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) which can result in vomiting, weakness and collapse. In high doses this Nero toxin can cause liver failure.
Any artificial sweetener, such as Sweet N Low, NutraSweet, Corn Syrup , and Refined Sugar,
should not be part of a dogs diet. Yet refined simple carbohydrates are hidden in many of todays dog treats. I treat my dog with whole foods that he gets every day divided up and stored in a glass jar in my refrigerator.
Table scrapes, moldy foods, spoiled foods, and garbage should never be given to a dog.
All cooked bad food should be disposed of, and any raw left overs can be effectively composted safely for later use in your garden or potted plants. A compost tumbler is easy to make and You Tube has lots of instructional videos,or you can order them online.
String can get trapped in the digestive tract becoming lodged for ever as a foreign body.
String among many other things can be lodged some where inside the poor dogs body. Dogs have the mind equivalent to a 3 or 4 year old human carried right into adulthood so they must be watched and carefully monitored through our their life time. This is part of being a dog care giver to protect your furry friend from mouthing certain things, and for digesting certain things that I dare not mention.
Certain dogs especially sporting gun dogs can have a nose so sensitive it can be 200 times more effective than our own nose for detecting odors, so it is not surprising that they can act around food this way.One danger in winters is the toxic antifreeze that some dogs are attracted to from a leaking car radiator.
And as I mentioned earlier, Chocolate especially dark chocolate , including coffee, tea, and any other caffeinated foods and beverages like soft drinks can induce vomiting, cause diarrhea, and be toxic to the heart and the dogs nervous system.
Onions of any kind including shallots,Spring and chives should never be part of a dogs diet.
The onion family contains a toxin to the dog called sulfoxides and disulfides, that can damage the dogs red blood cells causing anemia. Garlic is much more tolerable, and some veterinarians endorse the pungent herb and others do not.
So now you can see that before you share your raw smoothie or dressing with your dog it is first very important to know from the list above what is not safe to feed.

Barry Gourmets Health, Weight Loss, and Fitness Tip:

The secret to good health and weight loss is to eat a large variety of perishable raw foods, that hydrates your body through out the day. The extra fiber and higher water content of the foods will promote good health and you will see results in time.
Processed foods , will do just the opposite to your body.A lot of Processed foods will be dehydrating you , and slowing down your metabolism to a crawl with out the support of dietary fiber. This will cause your digestive organs to work harder to break down foods devoid of enzymes.
I use very little Cold pressed oils on occasion only , and never use them for cooking. I mostly use water to make different broths. The oils are only for adding later to get the consistency that I am looking for. My low heat cooking medium is always with pure water.
Every meal that I make has rainbow colors in mind from Nature , to be visually entertaining to the senses and to provide as much nutrient dense nutrition as possible. Always most of my servings are predominantly Raw food preparations or semi raw for the life giving enzymes that we need for feeding the cells in our body.
Of course eating healthy and not moving your body will only be half the answer.
Our body needs to be moving everyday to support our lymphatic system and to burn the calories that we are taking in every day. Driving your car less and walking more is a good start, then taking up some kind of physical activity that you enjoy doing would help you to stay with the program. Its the only way to super charge your metabolism.

Barry’s Asian Style Seed & Nut Dressing takes only 10 minutes to make, or longer if your knew with opening coconuts?

Barry,s Asian Style Seed & Nut Dressing:

I have covered how to open coconuts correctly in some of my other articles, so I just want to say that you need the right kind of heavy Knife that has a rectangle blade. And you work in a circular chopping pattern to get the nut open. Practice Practice. The store where you buy your coconuts does most of the work for you by cutting the sides of the nut then making nice cone head points for easy opening.
But for me I often harvest my own organic coconut from my garden to wrestle with them, but I am getting better at it now.Stores do sell coconut milk or cream in cartons if you wish to go that way as well.

Ingredients for Asian Style Seed & Nut Dressing for one person and good for a 3 day supply:

1 cup of sprouted whole almonds.
Sprouting almonds is easy just have them submerged in fresh water over night , then in the morning rinse out all the old water. Then I use the matt or towel method by rapping them up to absorb the excess water. You will notice that your almonds look much bigger than before
‘because they are. They are sprouting , and the enzyme inhibitors , a protein membrane that surounds each nut is being dissolved away.

1 whole fresh coconut .
1 cup of fresh diced pineapple.
1 cup of fresh diced papaya .
1 level table spoon of the following.

Flax seed ,Chia seed,Black sesame seed, and Pumpkin seed.
A bottle of Bee Pollen that should be stored in your freezer as this is an extremely perishable product, and the same goes for flax seed oil and wheat germ as well.
Every store I know of in the US and Canada will practice this way of storing these kinds of products to avoid the product of becoming prematurely rancid , but retail stores in Thailand as hot as it gets here will not properly store these items in the cooler and it just amazes me why there is not any world standard for this.

Directions for Asian Style Seed & Nut Dressing:

Cut open the coconut at the top and pour the water juice into your glass blender.
Chop the nut down the middle in to two parts then scrape out the meat using a spoon and add it to your blender.
Add your pineapple and papaya to your mix in the blender .

Next add one level tablespoon each to your milling machine that attaches to your blender .
I hope that you purchased a quality blender that has this important unit ? If not then you will just add the seed directly into your blender.

Inside your milling machine you have one level table spoon of Flax,Chia,Pumpkin and Black sesame seed . Turn on the machine with the cover secured and grind the seed down into a fine powder. Then add the contents to your blender.

Blend everything together until you have a smooth consistency.
Always after I blend my dressing or smoothie I taste it first for making any necessary ingredient adjustments with more blending until its just right.

Pour your seed and nut dressing into glass gars to be stored in your refrigerator.

Tip for natural preservation of salad and dip dressings :
Natural foods tend to parish quickly if not properly handled and should be consumed as early as possible with in the first and second day for best taste and nutrition.Home made salad dressings in glass jars are best kept in the back of the refrigerator where it is coldest.
Nature has 3 powerful preservatives that you can mix into your raw dressing to taste.
I use ground Clove powder that is one of Natures highest antioxidants and is well documented anti parasitic.
I use ground Cinnamon powder that is also one of natures highest antioxidant herbs and it has the capability to help stabilize the blood sugar .
Raw unfiltered honey is a well researched preservative from nature , and it helps neutralize ,bitterness and tart after taste of the other two herbs.
I usually make enough to last 3 days tops and no longer than this.
I do not trash any of my left over raw dips or dressings I compost it.

Barry’s Asian Salmon Ingredients Recipe:
Takes only 15 minutes to make for one person.

One frozen hand size fillet of Wild Pacific Salmon fish thawed if you live in Asia and fresh or frozen if you live in North America.

Half a sweet japanese potato
Half a medium size carrot
3 garlic gloves and 3 shallots
2 whole limes or half a lemon
half a cup of chopped parsley fresh .
One tablespoon of soaked Wakami Seaweed .
For the tossed Salad ingredients:

One cup of chopped fresh Spinach.
One quarter cup of sliced cherrie tomato.
One quarter cup of sliced red bell pepper.

For the Salmon Baste and Salad Dressing :
In a bowl squeeze one table spoon of lemon or lime juice.
Add one table spoon of raw apple cider vinegar.
Add one quarter teaspoon of Wasabi powder.
Mix well together.

Barry,s Asian Salmon Method:

Important Safety note in Food Preparation:

I know this goes with out saying but still it is very important to address.
Use 2 separate cutting boards always , one for the meats and one for the produce to avoid cross contamination between the two food groups.

In your steamer add 4 cups of pure water and lay your Salmon Fillet over the steam basket.
Steam for 5 minutes all by it self.
Next add your evenly cut length wise carrot and japanese sweet potato to the steam basket.
Note :In all steaming it is important to have all the pieces cut evenly in size to create uniform taste through out.

On your cutting board use the flat of your knife to crush the 3 garlic cloves, and 3 shallots.
Discard the skins and add to your steam basket.
Steam for 5 minutes longer and check later with your fork , to make sure that the veggies are soft on the outside but firm on the inside. At the 10 minute mark your fish can be turned over.
You can lower the heat for the last 5 minutes and work on the raw foods now.

On your cutting board cut finely your half cup of loose fresh Parsley herb and put aside.

Preparation of your Tossed Salad :

Take out a large salad bowl for tossing then on your cutting board finely chop a cup full of Spinach and add to the bowl.
A quarter cup of red cherrie tomatoes and a quarter cup of red bell peppers can be added to the bowl.

Now check your Salmon with a fork through the middle and separate to make sure that the fish is thoroughly cooked inside. This is important. Did you know that raw fish like sushi is a prime source of parasites transmittable to humans when consumed ? All meats must be cooked through.
When done using your basting brush cover the fish on all sides with the salad dressing mix.
The rest of the dressing left over can be spooned into the salad bowl. Toss the salad well, I like to use my two wooden forks for the job.

Spoon the tossed Salad into a serving bowl.
Then lay your Wild Salmon fish fillet in the middle of your plate and surround the fish with your sweet potato and carrot.
Add your chopped parsley.
Then spoon your nut and seed dressing around and over the vegetables.
You can place your soaked Wakami Seaweed over the fish and sprinkle some lemon juice with a dash of apple cider vinegar on top. Optional to sprinkle some Thai chili powder and a bit of black pepper.

Thats it you have your Salmon Asian Style! Enjoy Natures Foods!

“When I have naked food on my plate , I mean foods with no dietary fiber, then it becomes necessary for me to dress it up “

They Might Be Giants Biography
HERE COMES SCIENCE!

For alternative rock legends They Might Be Giants, rave reviews from the likes of Time Magazine, Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, Pitchfork, NPR and beyond might not be that unexpected, but we’re not talking about their regular gig here. Sure, TMBG have sold millions of records, are multi-Grammy winners and have even composed a musical accompaniment for an entire issue of McSweeney’s, but these most recent accolades are for the work TMBG has created for children and–as the reviews attest–no other band swings as effortlessly from adult music to children’s fare and back again with the artistic and commercial success of They Might Be Giants.

John Flansburgh and John Linnell’s latest CD/DVD is Here Comes Science (Idlewild/Disney Sound). It’s an ultra-vivid crash course through topics that in lesser hands could easily put kids to sleep. With rock anthems and electronic goodies crafted to amuse, intrigue and deliver the 4-1-1 on evolution, solar system, photosynthesis, the scientific method and more. Following Here Comes the ABCs and Here Come the 123s, Science is geared for older kids and it introduces ideas in a way that not only inform but will stay in your head forever.

While it may seem like an odd move for a duo recognized as the progenitors of the American alternative rock movement, it really all makes perfect sense. From their earliest days with Dial-A-Song through their online music distribution, TMBG have always challenged rock’s status quo and gone out of their way to take their music to brand new audiences, and by the looks of things, they’re having a lot of fun doing it their way. The Giants use every bit of fan interactive technology by connecting with kids via regular podcasts and including a DVD of delightful animated interpretations of their songs with each Here Comes… album.

The band is constantly working on new music, new projects and touring–sometimes with 2 shows a day. Founders John Flansburgh and John Linnell, along with their long standing live combo of Dan Miller, Danny Weinkauf and Marty Beller, show no signs of swapping one successful gig (adult music) for another (children’s music). Rejoice people of Earth–there’s just that much more for us all to enjoy.

Question: You once said in an interview that TMBGs knew what you didn’t want to do with your music geared for kids: You didn’t want to tell them how to behave or write songs that are educational. But these songs are quite educational, and in fact, you have a science consultant on this record. Did you make a conscious decision to really teach something on Here Comes Science?

John Linnell: I think it’s still a record you can listen to for enjoyment, and that’s real important to us. I am perfectly comfortable with the idea of something that is pure entertainment, but I don’t think there is any need for something just purely educational from us. My sense of this record is that it is mostly fun, musical and interesting and it happens to have lyrics that talk about science.

Question: Did any Children’s books or albums make an impression on you when you were a child? Because now you’re making that impression on children.

John Flansburgh: We get that question a lot, and it’s a valid question, but speaking for myself, I feel like we have something to contribute to kid’s music because what we’re doing is actually lacking in the general culture. Generally, our stuff is not really coming out of any amazing experience with the kid’s stuff from the past. Our childhood was during the really golden era of classic pop and singles. Those songs weren’t really designed for kids, but the power of it spoke to us and a lot of other kids quite directly.

Curiously–although I see the obvious connections–we didn’t really grow up with all of the progressive kids stuff of the 70's. We were that micro generation of glitter-rock young teens listening to Alice Cooper and David Bowie and we totally missed the boat on Sesame Street and School House Rock and Free To Be You and Me. But even being a bit too old for it, you could tell there was something cool about that stuff. Basically the cartoons of our generation were either super-violent, like Spiderman, or the really simple-minded Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

Question: Which one of you was the science student? Either or you? Neither of you?

J. Linnell: Specifically into science? I would say we were both middling students in school, but philosophically we are both, as adults, very pro-science. We like living in the post-enlightenment era in history. Are we still living in the enlightenment or is it over now, I can’t tell? Are we in the “en-darkenment” now?

J. Flansburgh: I think we’re actually in to the “gee whiz” part of science–all the scientific phenomenon that sparks your imagination. We certainly aren’t academics, but there is something remarkable about the world of science and there are ideas in science that just send your mind reeling.

J. Linnell: One the things that is exciting about it is that it makes you realize that things that are true, that can be proven, aren’t always intuitive. There is a difference between what seems to be the case and what turns out to be proven to be the case, and that’s really exciting. The world isn’t always what it seems to be and it makes everything more wonderful in a way. You have an experience of the world, walking around, and then science provides knowledge about the world that is not always anything like the experience.

The history of scientific discovery is partly revealing things that you don’t always experience directly, it’s bizarre in a way that so much of what we know is stuff we can’t always experience directly, like molecules and galaxies.

Question: Does that make it easier or harder to write about Science?

J. Linnell: Well, both. There is a point that you do reflect that you’re trying to explain something preposterous. And luckily, I think kids know the whole world is strange and preposterous, but as they get older, they get used to the idea that there are facts they just have to take someone’s word for.

Question: Considering you guys once used an answering machine to showcase your material, how amazed are you that you have all of this media at your disposal – podcasts, internet, video, etc…how has it changed the way you work?

J. Flansburgh: We enjoyed having an easy-breezy, loose reputation in terms of getting our music out to people. It was very great to be the one of the few acts in the United States who wasn’t preoccupied with getting on the radio or a cash return on our music. Of course now there is almost no end to the free stuff, and it is cool to see how much you can get in to the world, but with the most popular videos on YouTube being cats jumping into a box or people getting pushed down escalators, part of me worries that all this electronic media is just in the service of turning our culture into an endless episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos.

J. Linnell: A lot of what the technology suggests to people is the democratizing of culture and the notion of interactivity kind of caught fire online early on. What’s weird for John and I is that we were never interested in either one of those things. We actually like the idea of controlling what we are doing and we like the old fashioned idea of there being quality control on culture, that you would get the “good stuff” and there would be a way, through a critical apparatus or institutions, that would deliver the good stuff and filter out the bad stuff. It feels like the big problem nowadays is that everything should be available to everyone at all times and the result is a lot of garbage to wade through…not to sound like an 80 year old man! (laughs)

Question: With your accompanying DVD, how did the directors and animators come together? Are they the same people from Here Come the 123s? How much creative control do you give the animators with your songs?

J. Flansburgh: We are the producers on all the animated material and we select the artists we collaborate with pretty carefully. We’ve been involved in a lot of television and video projects over the years and that was very good training for these projects. There is an expression in rock video production: “Good. Fast. Cheap. Choose two” It’s a very unreasonable thing to expect everything to come together on a tight budget. Our strategy is to give the animators a relatively long lead time so they can do something that will be a good portfolio piece for them and something cool for us. And although we’re on a tight budget, we can offer a large amount of artistic freedom, and that gives us the opportunity to work with the most creative people out there.

Question: For this tour, you’re doing both “kid” and “adult” shows, sometimes 2 in one day. How is it different when you perform in front of kids versus when you perform in front of adults?

J. Flansburgh: Whatever pretensions you might have about your performance get totally re-calibrated when you’re playing for kids–playing a kid show is probably a bit closer to being a school teacher than being a rock star. There are also a lot of parents in the audience and we address them as well which kind of breaks forth the wall of "kiddie-ness."

Just to address the questions we always get: “how is it different writing a song for kids or writing for adults?” or “performing for kids and performing for adults?” Well, there is a real overlap, but there are meaningful differences too. A good song works in a way that is kind of irreducible whether or not it’s for kids or adults. If a song has a strong melody or an interesting concept, it will animate any audience, but in performance, kids have a really short attention span, so keeping things moving is important. Routinely the confetti machine gets the biggest response of the day. That will keep your ego in check.

Although in the past, “Clap your Hands” and "Alphabet of Nations" worked for adults, by and large the kid stuff stayed in the kid show just because it’s, well, for kids! (laughs). But with "Here Comes Science" a lot of the songs work good in the adult show. and that’s unusual. “Meet the Elements,” “My Brother the Ape,” “A Shooting Star is not a Star,” and “Why Does the Sun Shine” slid into the adult show without any second thoughts, and “I Am a Paleontologist” is totally rocking live.

Question: What’s next for They Might Be Giants?

J. Flansburgh: We’re working on a rock album right now, but we have so much touring interrupting our effort it’s hard to know when it will get done, so the real answer is we’re going to be spending a lot of time on a tour bus trying to figure out how to get the WiFi working!

Our children’s book collaboration with Pascal Campion, Kids Go, just came out at the end of last year on Simon & Schuster. It’s actually a very beautiful project and a fulfillment of a dream of mine. When we were approached, I wanted to do an actual picture book, which very few people get to do, and it was exciting to realize that dream. A good picture book is something that really stays with you.
